Find and join protests near you to raise your voice for those in need
As the live genocide unfolds in front of our screens, as we all bear witness to this loss of humanity, nothing is enough. Our protests, boycotts, charity, donations fall short as the genocide continues. Everything fails. This is also one of those failed attempts, in hopes that it helps in/contributes to the Palestinian struggle in any way possible. This is a collaborative attempt to create a space to discuss the historical, ideological, psychological and the unending impact of the Gaza genocide. The aim of these reading sessions will be to learn about the longer history of this genocide and also to mourn the loss. The sessions will be semi-moderated, meaning that the moderators will have some points they will aim to discuss but the discussion will not be limited to it. The discussion will depend more on the participants, what they want to discuss and focus on. Pakistan shares a longer history with Palestine that we often forget. We will also attempt to revive this history by reading Palestinian and Pakistani authors both to understand the connections from the past and how to move forward with those in mind. Some of the selected texts include, but are not limited to: Some of the authors whose works we may cover include, but are not limited to: Mahmoud Darwish, Faiz Ahmad Faiz, Ghassan Kanafani, Eqbal Ahmad, Habib Jalib, Ilan Pappe, Edward Said, Joe Sacco, Rashid Khalidi, Fehmida Riaz and more. You will be informed about the readings/poems/documentaries one week in advance along with the moderator/s.
